Five American TV shows that I love: Part 1

I havent had a life in the last two years because of my job, so my biggest escape was to go home and watch TV every night. However, TV dramas in Hong Kong are a joke. They are so predictable that you only have to watch the first episode and you will be able to predict what’s going to happen in the finale. So, American TV (occasionally British) is my daily bread. These are some the five shows that I love the most.

1. The Vampire Diaries on The CW

Everyone who knows me on facebook knows how much I love TVD. I’m sick of having to tell people how it is NOT like stupid Twilight. At first I really thought It was just another teen drama but I was complete hooked after the first few episodes. I think I finished the entire season in just 3 days and I had been shipping Stelena (Stefan + Elena, in case you don’t know) since the very beginning.

This story evolves around two vampire brothers, Stefan and Damon who are in love with a human girl, Elena. Every week someone wants to kill Elena and they do everything to protect her. The premise of the show sounds cliche, but it’s the most creative story I’ve ever watched on TV. There are always twists and turns and cliffhangers that make you so dying to see the next episode.

Every Friday after watching the episode I’d go online to fan forums, reviews, tumblr to seek fellow Stelena fans, but the Delena fandom is too overwhelm in the cyberspace. I also listen to a podcast on the show produced by Afterbuzz TV and my twitter exists only for the need to voice my support for Stelena! Sometimes I could spend hours on Youtube watching fan videos and rewatching the best moments. I know it sounds super juvenile to say this, but I just have to cuz this blog is about who I really am: I wish I could have a boyfriend like Stefan!!

The show just wrapped up its third season. Frankly speaking, I think the show is still way better than any teen drama on TV and about 1000 times better than Gossip Girl which I once loved but now hate, but it’s going downhill. I waited anxiously every week because the writer tore Stefan and Elena apart at the end of the last season and I just HAD to see them get back together. It was painful for me to watch when Elena flirted and made out with Damon. Season 1 and Season 2 were way more satisfying in terms of romantic development for Stelena fans. After being tortured for an entire season, I was very glad that in the finale Elena and Stefan found their way to each other. But TVD will not be TVD without an end of season cliffhanger. I’m very sure the writer will break them up again next season to cater to Delena fans. So I’m seriously considering not return in September so that Stelena will also be intact at least in my fantasy world.

Stay tuned and I will return with more!
