A song only means so much

Certain songs can trigger a million memories, songs that remind you of certain periods of time or certain people. There are musicians/songs that I avoid because of exactly that. Every time I hear those songs on the radio or at a cafe, they bring me back to my bitter-sweet memories, just like how Taylor Swift puts it in Tim McGraw, but in a more negative fashion.

There are a quite a few songs in my iTunes library that I consider to be “our songs”. I couldn’t listen to them without thinking about us, so I stopped listening all together along ago. Recently I’ve played a few just to see how they sound to me now cuz things have changed so much. Turns out they can no longer pain me. They are just songs that I used to relate to, but not anymore, just like the people they remind me of.

I also have a good feeling that more of “our songs” are going to come along.
